Iron Deficiency: Heart Failure

In the first episode of the EHA Diagnosing And Treating Iron Deficiency podcast series, Prof Gunnar Birgegård and host expert Prof Antonio Almeida define what is iron deficiency and more precisely functional iron deficiency. They discuss the prevalence of anemia in cardiac failure patients and the relation between severity of the heart disease and incidence of iron deficiency. They also highlight the importance of monitoring potential renal symptoms for better treatment outcomes.
